However, Downey declined the role due to his upcoming appearance as Doctor Doom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite the missed opportunity, the scene featuring Happy Hogan rejecting Deadpool’s pitch stayed in the film. The writers also considered a version with the original Avengers confronting Deadpool, including a comedic moment with Rob Delaney’s character lifting Thor’s hammer.
