Spider-Man star Tom Holland is recovering from a mild concussion after an on-set accident while filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, his fourth outing as Marvel’s iconic web-slinger.

A production insider confirmed to CNN that Holland, 29, experienced a concussion during filming but was not hospitalized. “Tom experienced a mild concussion and out of precaution, he will take a break from filming and is expected to return to work in a few days,” the source said. “Thankfully, no one else was affected and production will continue on as planned.”

Holland, who first donned the Spider-Man suit in 2016, was spotted shooting scenes in Glasgow on August 3, 2025. The city has been doubling as a backdrop for parts of the new Marvel-Sony production.

Production Moves Forward

Despite the incident, Spider-Man: Brand New Day remains on track. Representatives for Sony, Marvel, and Holland have not yet commented publicly.

The film will serve as a follow-up to 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, which became one of the highest-grossing movies of the pandemic era. Holland recently told fans the latest installment would feel refreshing after the restrictions of COVID-era shooting. “It’s been such a long time that I’ve done it that it’s going to feel like a breath of fresh air,” he said in July. “I think the fans are going to be over the moon with what we’re putting together.”

The actor is expected to resume filming within days once cleared. Fans online have already been buzzing about the title, which borrows from Marvel’s 2008 Spider-Man comic book storyline.
