HBO’s The Gilded Age is officially coming back for a fourth season, continuing its opulent tale of ambition, romance, and rivalry in 1880s New York. The renewal was announced July 28, with HBO promising a “thrilling” continuation of Julian Fellowes’ lavish drama.
While the network confirmed the show’s return, the biggest question remains: when will it actually premiere?

No Premiere Date Yet — and the History Isn’t Consistent
HBO has yet to reveal a release date for Season 4, and past seasons offer little clarity. The show’s rollout has been unpredictable:
- Season 1 arrived in January 2022.
- Season 2 followed nearly two years later in October 2023.
- Season 3 landed in June 2025, more than a year and a half after its predecessor.
If the same pacing continues, fans could be looking at late 2026 or even early 2027 for the next chapter.
Season 3 brought the series to new heights in both drama and ratings. HBO reported nearly 4.6 million viewers for the penultimate episode within its first three days — a 50% increase compared with previous seasons. With that momentum, the creative team may take extra time to ensure Season 4 meets heightened expectations.
That was a fucking flawless season finale. HBO has delivered like it hasn’t delivered in a LONG TIME with this show. 10/10! NO NOTES! #GildedAge pic.twitter.com/B3zbLkfUTy

What’s Been Confirmed for Season 4
Season 4 will continue in post–Opera War New York, where the influence of “new money” is steadily overtaking the city’s old guard. Julian Fellowes returns as creator, joined by the production team behind the series’ signature period detail.

An official cast list has not been announced, but Season 3 regulars — including Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon, Louisa Jacobson, and Denée Benton — are expected to return.
All three existing seasons are currently streaming on HBO Max, making it easy for fans to revisit key storylines while they wait for the new season.
