Guinness World Records has certified Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” as the highest grossing concert tour of all time. The previous record was $1 billion, and Swift’s 10-studio-album encompassing tour set surpassed this by raking in $1.04 billion. The songstress’ tour breaks the record previously held by Elton John’s five-year farewell tour, which brought in $939 million.
Beyoncé and Bruce Springsteen come in second and third for the highest grossing concert tours of 2023. The former held the title for the highest grossing female artist’s tour of all time since Madonna until Swift ultimately took the title. Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” world tour has also sparked a global cultural phenomenon. Both Swift and Beyoncé went on to release massively successful concert films from their respective tours, and both appeared at one another’s premieres in support of one another.
“The Eras Tour” runs three and a half hours long with a set list of 44 songs divided into 10 acts. Each act is complete with thematic backdrops and costuming for both the singer and her dancers. According to Pollstar, 4.3 million tickets have been sold to date, meaning that in the next year during the international leg of the tour, Swift could surpass $2 billion.
Finances aside, Swift’s tour has broken a number of other records. From becoming a city mayor for a day to accidentally causing an earthquake, “The Eras Tour” has had an immeasurable impact on the nation.
Tell Them How The Crowds Went Wild
Notably, Swift broke the record for the highest crowd capacity at the Nissan stadium, surpassing any other artists who have performed there and the crowds that frequently flock in to watch the Tennessee Titans play. The record first broke on May 5, and yet again on Saturday, May 6. The crowd was composed of over 70,000 concertgoers, with the Nashville Airport additionally reporting that approximately 180,000 people came to town for the weekend of shows.

Each city Swift stops in attempts to break the record of the last for the longest applause after she sings her “Evermore” track “Champagne Problems.” The track is accompanied by Swift playing a moss-covered piano as fans scream along to the iconic lyric of “she would’ve made such a lovely bride, what a shame she’s f*cked in the head.” The current record holder is Los Angeles, California at this time. Swift played SoFi Stadium in the city.

Additionally, several of the cities that the singer has stopped in have paid homage to the singer in unique ways. Glendale, Arizona changed the city’s name to “Swift City” during her stay, and Tampa, Florida made Swift mayor for the day. In Nashville, Tennessee, the mayor dubbed the weekend “Swift’s Homecoming”. A bench was also dedicated to her in the city’s Centennial Park. Swift references reading in the park on her “Folklore” track “Invisible String.”

At Seattle’s Lumen Field, Swifties shook it off so hard that they caused enough seismic activity to mimic a 2.3 magnitude earthquake, according to seismologist Jackie Caplan-Auerbach. Outside of the record breaking crowds, Swift also continues to donate to local food banks and charities in every city, and gave her tour truckers and crew each $100,000 bonuses at the end of the U.S. leg of the tour.
The singer’s “The Eras Tour” concert film will be available on streaming services tomorrow in honor of her birthday.
