The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Taylor Swift is about to embark on her most ambitious tour to date. “The Eras Tour” is set to begin in Glendale, Arizona, which the mayor temporarily named “Swift City” for the occasion, and will have a setlist that combines songs from all 10 of her highly acclaimed studio albums. Paramore and Gayle will open the show ahead of Swift’s much anticipated appearance.
As fans gear up for their upcoming shows, preparing outfits assigned per Swift era and battling Ticketmaster in the meantime, Swift dropped a surprise announcement this afternoon. In her typical fashion, she plans to drop new music at midnight. The four tracks will include her versions of “Safe and Sound” and “Eyes Open”, which appeared on The Hunger Games film’s soundtrack, Speak Now (Deluxe)‘s “If This Was A Movie,” and “All Of The Girls You Loved Before.”
The announcement was met with joy from fans, especially since it offers something to look forward to for those who were unable to purchase tickets after months of struggling with an arduous ticketing process. Swift previously took a break from touring during the rise of the COVID-19 pandemic, during which she released sister albums Folklore and Evermore.
Oh, you’re keeping count? Us too. 1 more day. #CountdownToTSTheErasTour ????

While three of the tracks dropping tonight were heard in the early 2010s prior to Scooter Braun
acquiring all of her original masters, “All Of The Girls You Loved Before” has never been released to the public. A clip of the track recently leaked on TikTok, with some fans calling for it to be released as a single. The song was recorded during the process of creating her 2019 album Lover.

Fans across Twitter continue to theorize that perhaps the TikTok leak was intentional, and what the song’s release could signify is coming next for Swift.

Fans have also noted that the songs to be released at midnight each pay homage to the several different genres that Swift has experimented with throughout her career. Some fall more into the indie folk category while others harken back to her early career Nashville roots, notably “If This Was A Movie.” It is likely that Swift picked this group to release because it is consistent with her creative vision for “The Eras Tour” at large, and offers some of everything for listeners to enjoy. However, given Swift’s pattern of strategic releases and easter eggs, fans can’t help but speculate that something bigger is in the works.
I'm curious why taylor chose to release these 4 songs, like all of the girls was super popular but the rest are underrated ???????????????? I feel like she has more up her sleeves pic.twitter.com/nICmyB1mTQ

Other fans expressed that while they were happy to hear about the midnight releases, they were anything but shocked.
