After a brief hiatus to focus on his mental health, Shawn Mendes is making his return to the spotlight. The Canadian singer-songwriter has announced a limited run of North American shows for fall 2025, marking a decade since his career first took off.

The upcoming On the Road Again tour includes major cities such as Boston, Toronto, New York, and Los Angeles. This marks Mendes’ most significant set of tour dates since canceling his Wonder tour in 2022 to prioritize his well-being.

“I feel like time away has allowed me to come back and recognize and remember how unbelievably special it is to get to play live shows,” Mendes said in a statement. “It’s an honor, and I’m just beyond grateful that you guys keep showing up after 10 years with so much love.”

A Look Back at Mendes’ Musical Journey

Mendes first captured hearts in 2015 with his breakout hit Stitches from his debut album Handwritten. Known for his emotional lyricism and smooth pop vocals, he quickly rose to international stardom with hits like I Know What You Did Last Summer, a duet with Camila Cabello.

After several chart-topping albums, Mendes shifted gears in 2024 with his self-titled album Shawn. The record explores themes of identity, personal growth, and vulnerability, particularly in the introspective track Who I Am, where he sings, “’Cause I don’t really know who I am right now.”

The album marked a sonic evolution for Mendes, who leaned more heavily into acoustic instrumentation and raw, emotional storytelling.

Fans React to Mendes’ Return

Longtime fans were quick to celebrate the tour announcement online, many expressing excitement at the chance to see Mendes perform again after his extended break.

“OH MY GOD THE WAY I JUST FELL ON THE FLOOR READING THIS,” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Many are already speculating about which songs will make the setlist, whether it’ll be a throwback to early hits, a showcase of his 2024 introspective work, or a blend of both.

A New Chapter for Mendes

The On the Road Again tour is more than just a series of concerts, it’s a symbolic comeback for Mendes. After stepping away from touring to focus on his mental health, the 26-year-old artist is now stepping back into the spotlight with renewed purpose.

While details on the tour’s setlist remain under wraps, fans can expect a performance that reflects both Mendes’ artistic growth and the enduring connection he shares with his audience.
