ABC has greenlit a full series order for the long-anticipated revival of Scrubs, and original cast members Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, and Zach Braff are all set to return. The news was confirmed by Entertainment Weekly and quickly sent fans of the beloved medical comedy into a frenzy.
The Band Gets Back Together
Series creator Bill Lawrence is also back as executive producer, signaling a return to form for the revival. In a statement, Lawrence said, “Scrubs means so very much to me. So excited for the chance to get the band back together.”
Chalke celebrated the announcement on Instagram with a carousel of nostalgic throwback photos featuring herself, Braff, and Faison. “YAY!!!” she captioned the post. Braff also chimed in on his Instagram Stories, singing a twist on the show’s theme song: “I can’t do this all on my own / I need Sarah Chalke and Donald Faison,” set to Lazlo Bane’s “I’m No Superman.”

What We Know About the Revival
According to ABC, the new show will follow JD and Turk as they return to Sacred Heart Hospital after years apart. The official logline teases, “JD & Turk scrub in together for the first time in a long time, medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time. Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way.”
The original Scrubs aired from 2001 to 2010, spanning nine seasons and 182 episodes. While the final season shifted focus to a new group of interns, only Faison and John C. McGinley remained as series regulars.
Fan Reactions
Longtime fans of the series flooded social media with excitement following the news. One user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “I seriously can’t wait!”

Others expressed disdain for the constant mill of reboots and revamps that happens with classic content. “
Remakes have always irritated me. No, I mean, what’s the point of remaking something that’s been done before?” said another fan.

No, I mean, what’s the point of remaking something that’s been done before??
