HBO’s Euphoria will feature Spanish singer Rosalía in its upcoming third season, marking her most prominent television role to date. The Grammy-winning artist will appear alongside Hunter Schafer, with whom she was previously in a brief relationship in 2019.

In an interview with ELLE, Rosalía confirmed that she and Schafer remain on good terms, describing the experience of working together again as “really nice.” Schafer had previously referred to Rosalía as “family” in an interview with GQ.

Series creator Sam Levinson told ELLE, “I love unleashing her on a scene. I let her play with the words, the emotions, in English and Spanish. I never want to tell her what to do first, because her natural instincts are so fascinating, charismatic, and funny. Every scene we shoot, I’m behind the camera smiling.”

Plot details and information about Rosalía’s character have not been disclosed.

Rosalía’s prior acting experience includes a role in Pedro Almodóvar’s 2019 film Pain and Glory. Off set, she divides her time between Los Angeles and Barcelona, working on new music following her 2022 Grammy-winning album Motomami.

Recent media coverage has linked Rosalía to German actor-singer Emilio Sakraya, though she has not publicly confirmed a current relationship. Speaking to ELLE, she said much of her focus remains on her music, explaining that she spends long hours in the studio and that her creative process must come “from a place of purity.”
