Legendary rapper Snoop Dogg, known for his acclaimed rap and acting career and affinity for marijuana, issued a statement last week that claimed he would be quitting “smoke.” However, as of this morning, it has been revealed that the statement was actually a part of a larger advertisement for Solo Stove, which uses technology to not emit the high smoke levels that an average bonfire or outdoor stove would.

Fans of the rapper’s humorous persona and outspoken use of weed were quick to joke that he looked high by the end of the advertisement video, despite “going smokeless” as he roasts a marshmallow.

Some pointed out that the advertisement also could bring in a new generation of fans for the rapper, as all eyes turned to him amid the shocking announcement. Snoop began his career in the early 1990s, going on to collaborate with Dr. Dre, Eminem, and more. Many pointed out that he would likely be using some of the paycheck from the high profile ad placement for more of his favorite type of smoke.

Snoop Dogg was a part of the NFL Super Bowl Half Time Show last year, and continues to collaborate with lifestyle guru Martha Stewart. Stewart and Snoop just dropped their “best buds bags” collaboration with Bic, the popular lighter manufacturer. This recent campaign in mind, it is clear that Snoop is not giving up the smoke anytime soon.

Prior to this collaboration, the pair starred on “Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party” from 2016 to 2020, serving up a wide array of different meals on the VH1 program. Since the show’s unlikely creation, the pair have reportedly remained close friends over the years.

Snoop has not spoken out further on smokegate at this time. Solo Stove is now available for purchase ahead of Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals.
