One dollar. One year of clean water. That’s the pitch behind #TeamWater, the latest philanthropic push from YouTube megastar MrBeast, and it’s working.

Launched August 1, #TeamWater is a global fundraiser aimed at providing long-term access to safe drinking water through community-led infrastructure projects. The campaign has already raised the equivalent of over 6 million years of clean water access, and it’s just getting started.

Led by MrBeast—real name Jimmy Donaldson—and co-creator Mark Rober, the initiative is being billed asthe biggest creator collab in history.Over 3,000 content creators are participating, from Kai Cenat and the Stokes Twins to Gordon Ramsay and Hank Green. Even YouTube itself joined the cause, pledging $2 million to the campaign.

In a kickoff video that’s already racked up 33 million views, Donaldson emphasized the scale and urgency:$1 = 1 year of clean water for someone in need. During August, countless other creators and I are going to be attempting to raise $40,000,000 to give 2,000,000 people clean drinking water for decades each!!!”

Globally, over 2 billion people lack access to safely managed drinking water, according to the United Nations. WaterAid, the main charity partner for #TeamWater, reports that 1 in 10 people still live without clean water close to home.

By 2040, water scarcity could affect as many as 4.5 billion people.

“Delivering water isn’t a quick fix, reads the initiative’s official website.Whether it’s building networks of pipes, purifying salty water, or harvesting rainwater, #TeamWater will deliver proven, sustainable water solutions where they’re needed most.”

Other nonprofit partners include GivePower, DigDeep, and the Alok Foundation.

MrBeast isn’t new to large-scale philanthropy. In 2019, he helped launch #TeamTrees with Mark Rober, raising over $23 million to plant 23 million trees. Two years later, they followed up with #TeamSeas, a $30 million effort to remove 30 million pounds of trash from oceans, rivers, and beaches.

These initiatives cemented Donaldson’s reputation as not just a spectacle-driven creator, but one using his platform to mobilize action at scale.

With Forbes reporting his earnings at $85 million and a subscriber base of 419 million across platforms, MrBeast has the numbers—and influence—to drive real-world change.

Throughout August, creators are expected to post daily content supporting the campaign, amplifying both awareness and donations. Fans can contribute directly through teamwater.org, where progress metrics are updated in real time.
