Summary:

  • British singer Lola Young collapsed onstage during performance at music festival, reassuring fans of her well-being afterward.

  • Young, known for hit single “Messy,” addressed incident on Instagram Stories and withdrew from scheduled festival appearance for health reasons.

  • Despite recent health struggles, Young’s career has been on the rise with successful album release and high-profile performances.

British singer Lola Young collapsed onstage during her performance at the All Things Go Music Festival in Queens, New York, on Saturday evening, prompting concern from fans and fellow artists.

The 24-year-old artist, known for her hit single “Messy,” was performing her song “Conceited” at Forest Hills Stadium on Sept. 27 when she appeared to lose consciousness and fell backward, according to concertgoers and videos shared on social media.

“She was really visibly at her limits, but still kept performing,” one attendee told PIX11 News. “She said these past few days were very tough for her, but that she nonetheless decided to show up”.

Singer Remi Wolf, also on the lineup, came onstage after the incident and reassured the crowd that Young was okay.

Lola Young Responds

Young later addressed the incident directly on Instagram Stories, telling fans:

“Hi, for anyone who saw my set at All Things today, I am doing okay now. Thank you for all of your support. Lola xxx”.

She also announced that she would be withdrawing from her scheduled appearance at the festival’s Maryland date the following day, citing the need to prioritize her health.

Recent Health Struggles

This is not the first time the London-born singer has stepped back from live performances. Just one day before the Queens set, Young canceled an appearance at the We Can Survive benefit concert in New Jersey. Her manager, Nick Shymansky, explained in a since-expired Instagram Story that “very occasionally days come where myself and my team have to take protective measures to keep her safe.

Young has been candid in the past about her mental health journey, sharing in 2022 that she had been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder. The condition, as defined by the Mayo Clinic, combines symptoms of schizophrenia with mood disorders like depression or mania. In a post at the time, she described the diagnosis as both challenging and a source of resilience: “My mental health condition does not define me. It is my superpower.”

Despite recent health setbacks, Young’s career has been on a steady rise. She released her second studio album, This Wasn’t Meant for You Anyway, in 2024, and performed at Coachella earlier this year. In September, she appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers and performed at the MTV Video Music Awards in Elmont, New York.

Forest Hills Stadium and All Things Go organizers have not yet commented on the incident.

Young’s fans have flooded social media with messages of support, applauding her vulnerability and urging her to take time to recover.
