Lady Gaga is set to cast a gothic spell on Netflix’s Wednesday Season 2, with a new single titled “Dead Dance” slated to drop next month, according to Variety.
The track will reportedly align with Gaga’s appearance in the Tim Burton-directed series as Rosaline Rotwood, a legendary Nevermore Academy teacher who “crosses paths with Wednesday.” While reps for Gaga have declined to confirm or deny the news, two sources close to the production confirmed the collaboration to Variety.
The new single was reportedly recorded with Andrew Watt and Cirkut, the powerhouse producers behind Gaga’s recent “Mayhem” album and ongoing Mayhem Ball tour. This isn’t just a stunt track, it’s a continuation of the sonically sinister aesthetic that’s defined Gaga’s current era.

The music video for “Dead Dance” is expected to drop alongside the episode release, teasing an aesthetic in tune with the eerie mythos of Wednesday. Last month, Gaga and Burton were seen filming at Mexico’s infamous Island of the Dolls in Xochimilco, a haunted site draped in decaying toys—a visual match for both Gaga’s theatrics and Burton’s macabre sensibility.
At the London premiere for Wednesday Season 2, Burton praised Gaga’s presence on set. “She’s such an artist, and so for me, working with an artist is inspirational,” he told Variety. “These people come on this set, you see the whole crew kind of light up. It’s a beautiful thing to witness.”
Gaga didn’t attend the premiere due to her tour schedule, but her addition to the cast puts her alongside returning star Jenna Ortega and newcomers like Steve Buscemi and Joanna Lumley.

“She plays Rosaline Rotwood,” a source confirmed. “There’s mystery around her role, but she has deep roots in Nevermore’s past.”
Burton also teased a deeper creative partnership with the pop icon. Speaking at Italy’s Giffoni Film Festival, he said, “I’ve done something else with her,” though declined to elaborate when pressed by Variety.
This isn’t Gaga’s first foray into the screen, but Wednesday marks her first major episodic role since American Horror Story: Hotel, adding another feather to her increasingly genre-spanning résumé.
As anticipation builds for “Dead Dance,” fans are already speculating about choreography, music video cameos, and potential crossover merch. And in true Gaga fashion, she’s letting the mystery brew a little longer.
Wednesday Season 2 will premiere in two parts on Netflix. The first four episodes drop on August 6, 2025, followed by the remaining four on September 3, 2025. While Gaga’s song “Dead Dance” hasn’t been officially dated, it’s expected to arrive with the season’s debut.
