Singer and talk show host Kelly Clarkson revealed that acclaimed singer-songwriter Taylor Swift sends her a bouquet of flowers as a thank you after she releases each of her first six re-recorded masters. Clarkson was first to encourage Swift to re-record her first six albums after they were bought by music tycoon Scooter Braun without her consent. The singer and host raised the idea on X, and Swift wound up taking her exact advice.
Allegedly, Clarkson’s idea came after her former mother-in-law country star Reba McEntire also re-recorded some of her biggest hits. As a thank you to Clarkson, after each re-release, Swift sends her a bundle of new merchandise and a personalized note and flowers. Thus far, Swift has re-recorded “Fearless,” “Red,” “Speak Now,” and “1989.”

Clarkson humbly stated in a recent E! interview that she thinks Swift could have easily come up with such a mastermind plan herself, but that she is always grateful for her support regardless.
“I love how kind she is though,” Clarkson said. “She’s a very smart businesswoman. So, she would have thought of that. But it just sucks when you see artists that you admire and you respect really wanting something and it’s special to them. You know if they’re going to find a loophole, you find a loophole. And she did it and literally is, like, the best-selling artist I feel like of all-time now.”
Swift’s “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” became her 13th No. 1 on the Billboard charts, and sold 1.6 million units in the U.S. (and over 3.5 million units worldwide) in the first week alone, breaking the 2014 record set by its original release.

In June 2019, Braun famously purchased Swift’s first six original studio album masters, which were created from when Swift was a teenager through her mid-20s. The masters were acquired through Ithaca Holdings for $330 million, after Braun bought Swift’s longtime record label, Big Machine Records. This resulted in an abrupt shift for Swift to Republic Records. The masters were acquired without Swift’s permission.
Two months later, Swift dropped her seventh studio album, “Lover”, marking the first album she ever truly owned. After the release of “Lover”, Swift announced plans to re-record each of her first six studio albums, and add additional “vault” songs to each. The vault songs refer to tracks Swift wrote at the time of each album’s release, but ultimately did not release until the present day.
It is rumored that Swift’s former friend, model Karlie Kloss, alerted Braun to the masters being up for sale. Rumors have long alleged that Swift and Kloss ended their friendship over this. In the years since the re-recording process began, the singer is now left to reclaim two things–her reputation and her name. “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” and “Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version)” are to be announced.
Swift is currently embarking on the international leg of “The Eras Tour,” and is currently performing in Argentina.
