During a recent cover story interview with The Hollywood Reporter, rapper 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson III, shed light on his pivotal role in the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show. The 49-year-old artist revealed that his involvement was integral to Eminem’s participation in the high-profile event.

According to 50 Cent, Eminem was adamant that he would not perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show unless 50 Cent was also included. “They didn’t want me there,” 50 Cent said. “Eminem wouldn’t do it without me. That’s how I ended up on the show because he was not coming if I didn’t do it.”

The Super Bowl Halftime Show, held in February 2022, featured a lineup that included Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Kendrick Lamar. However, 50 Cent’s involvement was not initially planned. “When that happens, you go, ‘Damn, so you just lost Eminem because you didn’t bring 50? Damn. All right. Bring 50 then.’ But if it was up to them, they would not have me there,” 50 Cent explained. “I’m the surprise. I’m not on the bill at all, but they couldn’t get Em to do it without me.”

Eminem, who is 51 years old, also spoke about his relationship with 50 Cent, referring to him as “like a brother.” In the interview, Eminem praised 50 Cent’s resilience and work ethic. “50 has proven again and again that there’s really nothing he can’t do, and nobody gets in the way of him getting it done,” Eminem stated.

In addition to discussing his Super Bowl experience, 50 Cent talked about his current project involving Eminem. In January 2023, 50 Cent appeared on BigBoyTV’s YouTube channel and announced that he was adapting the 2002 film *8 Mile*, a semi-autobiographical film about Eminem, into a television series. This project was later confirmed in his *Hollywood Reporter* cover story.

“I’m gonna bring his *8 Mile* to television,” 50 Cent revealed. He added that Eminem would be involved in the production of the series. “It’s gonna be big. I’m working. I ain’t got no duds. I’m batting 100,” 50 Cent said. “I think it should be there for his legacy because it’s important to me that they understand it.”

The television adaptation aims to delve deeper into Eminem’s early life and career, providing a “backstory” to the film and sharing his story with a new generation. 50 Cent emphasized the importance of the project in preserving and expanding upon Eminem’s legacy.
